Heavyweights collide at Bellator 225, with four clashes of the big men on the card, plus the return of former women’s flyweight title challenger Alejandra Lara.
Bellator MMA is back in action this weekend, returning to Connecticut, but not to the Mohegan Sun. With the state having regulated MMA at long last, Bellator 225 was set to take place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The main event was a rematch between Matt Mitrione and Sergei Kharitonov, running back their meeting from February which ended when Mitrione connected with a soul-crushing low blow on Kharitonov. Also on the docket, former flyweight title challenger Alejandra Lara, moving up to bantamweight. She’d weigh in with a special message on Friday, putting focus on the plight of the Amazon, where the rain forest is currently at threat due to an unprecedented number of forest fires.
