Valentina Shevchenko and Liz Carmouche are ready to rumble, as the main event is official for UFC Uruguay.
UFC Uruguay is the UFC’s debut in the South American nation, as the promotion looks to expand from its base in Brazil in the continent. Touching down in Montevideo, the Fight Night card brings with it a title fight, a rare enough occurrence (though one that will be repeated later this month at UFC Shenzhen in China). That fight will see women’s flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko put her belt on the line against Liz Carmouche.
There is history between the two. Prior to the UFC, Carmouche has a win over Shevchenko, from back in 2010. That doctor’s stoppage loss is one Shevchenko would like back, while Carmouche would like to make good on her second title shot, after losing the inaugural UFC women’s bantamweight fight to Ronda Rousey in 2013.
On Friday, all fighters hit the scales ahead of the event — results are below!
