Boston is about to get more savage, as Gillian Robertson will face Maycee Barber at UFC on ESPN 6.
Canada’s Gillian Robertson is getting her wish. After telling Cageside Press earlier this month that she wanted to stay active, after being on what seemed like a six month schedule, Robertson picked up an impressive win at UFC 240 last weekend. After the TKO of Sarah Frota, Robertson reiterated her desire to stay busy — and now, she’s got a fight lined up for UFC Boston.
Batter up! Robertson has called out a number of fighters, including Paige VanZant, Montana De La Rosa, and Maycee Barber of late, and it looks like it is Barber getting the nod.
Robertson announced fight news was pending, and both she and Barber have confirmed the fight following an early report by ESPN.
With the win at UFC 240, Robertson improved her record to 7-3. She also became the winningest women’s flyweight in the UFC, and has the most finishes, with all four of her victories ending in submission or TKO.
Barber (7-0), meanwhile, remains undefeated. The Contender Series alum is a hot prospect at 125lbs, but then again, so is Robertson, who trains under Din Thomas. Which makes this particular booking very appealing.
UFC Boston (UFC on ESPN 6) takes place Friday, October 18, 2019 at the TD Garden in Boston, MA. The card is headlined by Chris Weidman, in his light heavyweight debut, taking on Dominick Reyes.
