In a night of surprises at UFC 239, Amanda Nunes unleashed a head kick that set up the finish of Holly Holm, and got everyone talking!

The main card of UFC 239 turned out to be a more exciting affair than many imagined. Jan Blachowicz knocked out Luke Rockhold, in the latter’s debut in the 205lb weight class. Jorge Masvidal landed the fastest knockout in UFC history when he connected with a flying knee on Ben Askren. And Amanda Nunes, the champ champ and arguably best female fighter of all time, knocked out Holly Holm.

The finish was ruled a TKO, but Nunes set it all up with a head kick. Who would have seen that coming? Sure, head kick might have been a pick by many in the UFC 239 co-main event — but most would have said Holm by head kick. Nunes? She was better known for her hands.

But UFC 239 was a night of surprises. Nunes’ winning in thunderous fashion, within a round, was just one of them. As well, Nunes announced that she wanted to defend her 145lb title, and said she’d be addressing the issue with Dana White shortly.

That’s certainly something to look forward to, with Cris Cyborg fighting Felicia Spencer later this month.
