With Daniel Cormier, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Max Holloway and others expected to be on hand, the UFC Summer Press Conference was set for Friday in Las Vegas.
The UFC was in Las Vegas all week for International Fight Week, capped off by a light heavyweight title showdown between the dominant Jon Jones, and powerful Thiago Santos. But Friday, between the official and ceremonial weigh-ins for UFC 239, the promotion hosted it’s annual summer press conference.
Expected to attend, the stars from a number of upcoming cards, including UFC 240 later this month. That show, going down in Edmonton, Alberta was scheduled to be headlined by a featherweight title fight fans have been waiting years to see. Max Holloway would be getting arguably the toughest test of the ‘Blessed’ era, against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
Also expected for the press conference, heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who was set to face former champ Stipe Miocic for the second time atop UFC 241 in Anaheim. Plus lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, set to headline UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi in September against interim champ Dustin Poirier.
