Dalcha Lungiambula, after dominating the fight with his wrestling and top control, gets the quick TKO stoppage in round three at UFC Minneapolis against Dequan Townsend. Lungiambula looked mighty impressive in his promotional debut.
Dalcha Lungiambula will be making his promotional debut at UFC Minneapolis. The Congo native spent his entire career with premier African promotion EFC, defending their light heavyweight title twice and winning their heavyweight title in his last appearance to become a double-champ. Lungiambula comes into his debut with a 9-1 record, owning three submissions and two knockouts.
Dequan Townsend will also be making his promotional debut at UFC Minneapolis in what will be his 30th professional fight. The opportunity came about when Justin Ledet pulled out right before fight week with an injury, opening the window for Townsend. “The Tarantula” is 21-8 in his career, winning six of his last seven fights, including a win over UFC veteran Hector Urbina.
Round 1
Lungiambula with his background in judo would find the trip takedown around the half minute mark in round one. For a time, Townsend worked back to his feet only for Lungiambula to get him right back down. Lungiambula ends the round on top.

Round 2
Unlike the first round, the pace was stepped up early in round two when Lungiambula got a quick takedown. Townsend did get back to his feet once, but the strength of Lungiambula was too much, slamming Townsend right back down. With not a lot of action on top, Lungiambula dominated in control for basically the whole round. The fight was stood up by the ref in the last seconds, as they swung heavy leather at the bell, but nothing landed.

Round 3
The heat was turned up rapidly at the start of round three. Lungiambula landed a left hook and a right behind it as Townsend was falling. Lungiambula instantly got into the mount to land elbows, sending the ref in.
