The UFC will return to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey this August for UFC on ESPN 5.
The UFC is once again heading back to the Garden State. On Thursday, the promotion announced it was returning to New Jersey. The show will take place in Newark, NJ on August 3, and is expected to serve as UFC on ESPN 5.

While no fights were announced for the card, you can expect some local flavor, as many New Jersey and New York fighters are likely to be recruited for the event. One fighter you can rule out, however, is New Jersey’s own Frankie Edgar. He fights a week earlier in Edmonton, Alberta, at UFC 240, where he’ll challenge Max Holloway for the UFC featherweight championship.
UFC on ESPN 5 is expected to be held at the Prudential Center. The promotion has hit up Newark at that exact venue seven times in the past, bringing everything from PPV events to UFC on FOX cards. UFC Newark, however, will be the first show there in the ESPN era.
Past outings in Newark include UFC 111: St. Pierre vs. Hardy, UFC on FOX 15, which had Lyoto Machida falling to Luke Rockhold, and most recently UFC on FOX 18 in 2016. That card was topped by Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson defeating Ryan Bader.
The UFC last visited New Jersey when they stopped in Atlantic City in April 2018.
