Former Bellator competitor Vince Murdock steps up on short notice to face Jordan Griffin at UFC Minneapolis.
Vince Murdock replaces Chas Skelly, and faces Jordan Griffin in a featherweight bout next weekend at UFC Minneapolis. The promotion officially announced the change to the fight.
Vince Murdock is a Team Alpha Male product who was born in Lapeer, Michigan. The 28-year old is undefeated in his last five contests, most recently knocking out Justin King at a TWC event. Murdock fought in Bellator in 2013 and 2016, a run which started with a knockout win over John Raio, but ended with a unanimous decision defeat to Jeremiah Labiano. Murdock holds wins over top prospects Carl Deaton III and TJ Laramie. Of his 12 wins, Murdock has finished nine of them, seven ending by way of knockout.
Jordan Griffin fights out of Roufusport under head coach Duke Roufus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 29-year-old Griffin earned his big opportunity through Dana White’s Contender Series. Griffin submitted Maurice Mitchell by rear-naked choke in the first round to earn a UFC contract. In his UFC debut, Griffin dropped a close decision to featherweight prospect Dan Ige. Griffin is a former KOTC and RFO featherweight champion. Griffin is a veteran who has fought Bellator contender Juan Archuleta, UFC competitor Dan Moret and MMA veteran Darrick Minner. Out of 17 wins, Griffin has finished 13 of them, with eight of those coming via submission.
UFC Minneapolis will be live from the Target Center in Minnesota on June 29. The original headliner was Tyron Woodley vs. Robbie Lawler in a welterweight rematch, but Woodley withdrew due to an injury.
