Tony Ferguson and Cowboy Cerrone have a tango date. The two are now set to throw down at UFC 238 on June 8.
Both Ariel Helwani and Brett Okamoto of ESPN reported the addition to UFC 238.
Donald Cerrone is coming off a masterful win over Ragin’ Al Iaquinta last week, a fight in which he dominated. The win over Iaquinta was his second in his return to the lightweight division. The first fight, Cerrone knocked out contender Aaron Hernandez. The fight with Ferguson will be Cowboy’s third of the year in just six month’s time.
In his win over Iaquinta, Cerrone went on to call out both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. Unfortunately for Cowboy, Khabib has a fight in the works with Dustin Poirier, the lightweight interim champion. Conor McGregor, on the other hand, takes too long to decide on a fight for Cowboy’s liking.
Tony Ferguson has been out since October after he beat Anthony Pettis. Ferguson is on an insane 11-fight win streak, which is even more impressive considering the entirety of the run has been at lightweight.
Before the Pettis fight, Tony Ferguson had won the interim lightweight strap against Kevin Lee. Then, Ferguson was stripped of his title after he tripped over a cable completing media obligations before his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov for UFC 223.
Recently, Ferguson had to deal with personal issues, with domestic abuse allegations levied against him. Since then, Tony has gone to therapy and reportedly did well in his sessions. He and his team announced his return via Twitter in a gnarly video.

UFC 238 is already a stout card, even before the Cowboy-Ferguson fight. The card has two title fights for the main and co-main event. In the main event, flyweight champion, Henry Cejudo, takes on Marlon Moraes for the bantamweight strap, in a bid to become the next double champ. The comain event boasts Valentina Shevchenko’s first title defense against Jessica Eye. In addition to the two title fights, we have appearances by Tai Tuivasa, Pedro Munhoz, Albanian Sterling, Tatiana Suarez, Ricardo Lamas, Jimmie Rivera and Petr Yan.
