In the first bout on the main card of Bellator Birmingham, Raymond Daniels did Raymond Daniels things, knocking out Wilker Barros in style at 4:36 of the first round.
Raymond Daniels has been a well known name in mixed martial arts for many a year. A kickboxing legend and Bellator’s kickboxing welterweight champion, his striking prowess and flashy, aggressive style has made him a fan favourite for some time. Despite his MMA debut over 10 years ago not going as planned, Daniels came back to have another go. In front of him was a fellow striker.
Wilker Barros, ranked the number one kick boxer in the UK, an amateur K1 world champion, made his professional MMA debut after the original opponent Jon Durrant pulled out. ‘Black Panther’ promised to be a lively and intriguing test for the American on his MMA return.
Straight from the off, Daniels was up to his usual tricks. With dynamite in both feet and hands, Daniels got to work right away, crowd pleasing whilst cruising through round one. Wilker struggled to find answers for this and with little remaining of the opening round. Daniels got the stoppage in the first round to grant him his first win in professional MMA, in emphatic style too.
