Former Bellator MMA lightweight champion Brent Primus got back to his winning ways at Bellator Birmingham. He did so in style, submitting Tim Wilde with a gogoplata choke 80 seconds into the main event bout.
Brent Primus is a name you perhaps wouldn’t expect to be fighting at a regional Bellator event in the UK. However, exactly this happened when he took on Tim Wilde; a bizarre matchup, but an exciting one nonetheless, at Bellator Birmingham. The former lightweight world champion looked to get back to winning ways after failing to defend the title against the man he won it from; Michael Chandler.
Tim Wilde, a UK veteran, was fighting after a year out of the cage when won the GTFP lightweight championship. A huge underdog going into the fight with nothing to lose, Wilde had everything to gain and there was a sense that maybe, if he could keep it standing on the feet, he could pull off a monumental upset.
The fight went exactly this way with the Brit looking to move in and out between attacks. Under a minute in, Wilde rocked him, sending Primus to the floor.

However, a rushed attempt to finish the former champ would be his downfall when Primus managed to turn the fight around and win via gogoplata choke.
This sees Primus back to winning ways, but considerable improvements will be needed if he wants to be in title contention again. As for Wilde, an impressive showing will undoubtedly land him another decent named opponent.
