Don’t miss this gallery of selected highlights from today’s official (and only) weigh-in for UFC Ottawa (UFC Fight Night 151).
UFC Ottawa is official. Friday morning, all fighters hit the scales ahead of the event, otherwise known as UFC on ESPN+ 9 or UFC Fight Night 151. And all fighters made weight. Not before a little drama, mind you. Kyle Nelson needed a towel to make the featherweight limit of 145lbs, but make it he did. Macy Chiasson, however, did not make it on her first attempt. Given an extra hour, she was still heavy on her second, but she’d weighed in halfway through the window, and was able to hit the 136lb limit for bantamweight on her third try.
Close, but in the end, all fighters made weight for the card. That included, of course, a number of “tweeners” — fighters trapped between weight classes, including newcomer Marc-André Barriault and headliner Cowboy Cerrone.
With the weight cut over, the fun can begin, starting with Mitch Gagnon and newcomer Cole Smith. The bantamweight pair open the card Saturday at the Canadian Tire Centre. The fights get underway at 5PM ET, with the event airing live on ESPN+ in the U.S., and TSN 4/5 in Canada.
