Featherweights Kamuela Kirk and Billy Quarantillo will meet on the Contender Series this summer.
With the Contender Series approaching fighters are being contacted and bouts are getting booked. Mainly the bigger fighters (265, 205, 185) have been booked. Now contracts are going out to the other divisions and fights are being made. Sources confirm to Cageside Press that featherweights Kamuela Kirk will take on Billy Quarantillo on July 2.
Currently living in Surprise, Arizona Kirk trains out of Siege MMA in Peoria, Arizona. Kirk, who was featured on Cageside Press’ Contender Series prospects list, is 9-2 as a professional and on a three-fight win streak. “The Jawaiian” has a 100% finish rate with three KO/TKO stoppages and six submissions.
Fighting for a few smaller promotions, Kirk has also fought for the likes of Victory FC and LFA. With the 100% finish rate, Kirk has all his stoppages inside two rounds and both of his losses are via decision. He’s only 25-years-old and has improved greatly while only losing one fight in the last three years.
Across the cage from Kirk will be Billy Quarantillo in front on UFC matchmakers Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard along with president Dana White. Originally from Ransomville, New York, Quarantillo lives now in Tampa, Florida. The 30-year-old trains out of Gracie Tampa South Martial Arts.
Quarantillo is 11-2 as a professional and on a four-fight win streak. He was a competitor on The Ultimate Fighter Season 22 but came short against Saul Rogers. Since his stint on TUF, Quarantillo has gone 5-1. In the process, he won the KOTC lightweight championship.
