Maryna Moroz showcased her full potential with a dominant striking performance against Sabina Mazo at UFC Philadelphia.
Maryna Moroz is 3-3 since joining the UFC in 2015. She started her Octagon run in a huge way with a debut defeat of fan-favorite Joanne Calderwood. Since defeating Christina Stanciu and Danielle Taylor is 2016, Moroz has lost to Carla Esparza and Angela Hill.
Sabina Mazo is an undefeated strawweight prospect making her promotional debut at UFC Philadelphia. The Colombian is 6-0 and had her last four fights under the LFA banner. She defended the title twice there and won her first two fights in the promotion by head kick knockout.
Moroz landed a pair of strong jabs then shot for a takedown which Mazo avoided. A couple more stiff jabs landed for Moroz into another clinch. This time, Moroz tripped Mazo to the canvas, whose mouth was bloodied up. Mazo was working on the bottom, but Moroz had solid control. Mazo was able to push Moroz off, but Moroz jumped right back into top position after avoiding upkicks. Mazo was able to push Moroz off and ate a few jabs from Moroz followed by a right straight. Moroz clinched up again to end the round.

A strong combination landed for Moroz to start the second round, snapping the head of Mazo backward. Mazo could not match the striking skill of the Olympic boxing coach. Moroz clinched up with Mazo but could not drag her down. After separation, Moroz continued to overwhelm Mazo on the feet. Overhand rights were landing beautifully for Moroz as she went into another clinch against the fence. While there was no takedown in the second round, Moroz dominated the inexperienced Mazo.

It was more of the same in the third round. A quick clinch from Moroz kicked things off and while Mazo showed a bit more life on the feet with kicks, the pace of Moroz was simply too much. Combination after combination landed for Moroz into another clinch. Again, Moroz couldn’t get a takedown, but she didn’t need it. Utter dominance from Maryna Moroz in this contest.
