Brazilian lightweight powerhouses Francisco Trinaldo and Carlos Diego Ferreira are scheduled to battle at UFC 237.
MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz first reported the addition to UFC 237.
Francisco Trinaldo and Carlos Diego Ferreira are a pair of quietly successful Brazilians in the lightweight division. They have an impressive combined record of 19-7 in the UFC and pose stylistic issues to anyone.
Francisco Trinaldo, a former Jungle Fights champion, really caught his stride after going 4-3 in his first seven Octagon appearances. “Massanduraba” rattled off seven consecutive wins, capped off with a victory over Paul Felder, to launch himself into the top 10. Trinaldo was then matched up with Kevin Lee, and after rocking the former title challenger in the first round, Trinaldo ended up getting choked out in the second. Trinaldo is 2-1 since then, stopping Evan Dunham with a knee to the body in his last appearance.
Carlos Diego Ferreira was an undefeated Legacy FC (currently LFA) champion at 9-0 when he signed with the UFC. After winning his first two fights against TUF winners Ramsey Nijem and Colton Smith, Ferreira fell to top lightweights Beneil Dariush and Dustin Poirier. Since the losses, the BJJ black belt is 4-0 with wins over Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Rustam Khabilov. It is worth noting that he was suspended by USADA after the OAM victory.
UFC 237 takes place on May 11 from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is headlined by the highly-anticipated strawweight title fight between Jessica Andrade and champion Rose Namajunas. In the co-main event, the legendary Jose Aldo will (hopefully) fight up-and-comer Alexander Volkanovski. Other great Brazilian fighters like Anderson Silva and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will also be on the card.
