Bellator’s biggest event in their European Series has been announced, with Gegard Mousasi defending his middleweight title against Rafael Lovato Jr. at Bellator London.
The promotion’s official press release for Bellator London can be seen here.
In addition to the middleweight title fight, UK stars Paul Daley and James Gallagher will be featured on the card against opponents to be named later.
Gegard Mousasi has excelled in his stint with Bellator thus far, defeating former champions Alexander Shlemenko and Rafael Carvalho, and defending his middleweight title against welterweight champion Rory MacDonald. Mousasi left the UFC while in the top five of the middleweight division. The Netherlands native had won five straight fights and defeated former champion Chris Weidman before leaving the promotion. With a 45-6-2 record, Mousasi is one of the most respected middleweights in the sport.
Rafael Lovato Jr. is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert with multiple gold medals in international competition to his name. After going 4-0 in Legacy FC (now LFA) and winning their middleweight championship, the Oklahoma resident signed with Bellator and has been excellent since then. Lovato has gone 5-0 with four stoppages, defeating former UFC standout Gerald Harris in that span.
Paul Daley will be looking to recover from a disappointing bout against Michael Page while James Gallagher will attempt to build upon a first-round submission victory after suffering his first career loss.
Bellator London will take place on June 22 from the SSE Arena in England. The main event is the only fight announced thus far, but expect opponents for both James Gallagher and Paul Daley in the near future.
