MMA fan’s will be salivating for this one: a promising brawl between Li Jingliang and Alex Oliveira has been booked for UFC Fort Lauderdale in April.
A fun welterweight scrap has been added to the UFC on ESPN 3 card. The show, A.K.A. UFC Fort Lauderdale (recently moved from Miami and technically going down in Sunrise, FL) will see Yoel Romero face Jacare Souza in the main event. That middleweight scrap will now be joined by Li Jingliang taking on Alex Oliveira in a key lightweight clash. Combate was among the first to report the news.
China’s Li Jingliang (16–5) has won two straight, and six of his last seven, an impressive run in the deep 170lb division in the UFC. ‘The Leech’ has become a fan favorite for his walk-forward style, and has claimed four bonuses in his last five bouts. In his last fight at UFC Beijing in November, Jingliang earned a Performance of the Night award for his finish of David Zawada.
Brazil’s Alex Oliveira (the other ‘Cowboy’) has also become a fan favorite, making this particular clash extremely promising. 2-2 in his last four, he had run up wins against Carlos Condit and and Carlos Pedersoli Jr. before dropping his last bout to Gunnar Nelson at UFC 231.
UFC Fort Lauderdale takes place at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida on April 27.
