Invicta FC featherweight champion Felicia Spencer is now a member of the UFC roster, adding an interesting twist to the promotion’s struggling 145lb division.
Felicia Spencer has signed on with the UFC. The ‘Feenom’ will now join former Invicta FC featherweight champ Megan Anderson in the promotion, which is reportedly bringing in some featherweight reinforcements. UFC featherweight contender Megan Anderson let the news slip backstage at UFC Wichita on Saturday, stating the UFC had signed a number of featherweights. Spencer would confirm to Cageside Press that it is indeed a done deal.
After a 5-1 record in her amateur career, Spencer made her pro debut on September of 2015. She made her debut for the biggest promotion in women’s MMA in Invicta Fighting Championship. There, she would become the third woman in promotional history to win the featherweight title. The other Invicta FC featherweight champs? Cristiane Justino, better known as Cris Cyborg, and Megan Anderson.
Spencer won the title this past November, beating Pam Sorenson by rear-naked choke in the third round of the main event at Invicta FC 32.
While there is no confirmed debut date nor opponent for Spencer, she told Cageside Press Saturday that she is expecting to fight this summer. Interesting, Spencer and Anderson actually had an in-cage face-off not too long ago.
The move comes in the wake of Invicta FC bantamweight champ Sarah Kaufman also exciting the promotion, as she has joined the PFL’s lightweight division.
