Pearl Gonzalez busted out a pink wig and her trademark pearls to spice up the Invicta FC 34 weigh-in ahead of tomorrow night’s flyweight spectacle.
Invicta FC 34 is putting the spotlight on the flyweight division in a big way. Friday night in Kansas City, Kansas, the 125lb title, currently vacant after Jennifer Maia jumped to the UFC, is on the line. Popular former UFC fighter Pearl Gonzalez will face hard-hitting Brazilian Vanessa Porto to determine the next champion.
But that is far from all the 125lb division has to offer Friday. In a flyweight tournament, Miranda Maverick will meet TUF alum DeAnna Bennett, while Milana Dudieva meets Karina Rodriguez on the other side of the bracket. The tournament format is something of a novelty for Invicta FC, and after these semi-final bouts, the winners will face off to determine who gets the next crack at gold.
In still more flyweight action, standout Tracy Cortez meets Erin Blanchfield, Victoria Leonardo faces Jamie Milanowski, and finally, Caitlin Sammons meets Christina Ricker.
All fighters hit the scales Thursday, and with the exception of Helena Kolesnyk vs. Faith McMah, all fights are a go. That bout was pulled from the event when Helena came in more than ten pounds over the featherweight limit.
Be sure to check out the ceremonial weigh-in video and results page for more coverage. Below are some of the highlights from Thursday’s festivities.
