Jon Jones and Anthony Smith begin their promotion for UFC 235 with a press conference streaming live on Thursday night.
With Jon Jones officially licensed in the state of Nevada, the UFC is moving forward with its planned main event at UFC 235. That will see Jones take on surging light heavyweight Anthony Smith at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas next month. After all the chaos of UFC 232 and Jones’ return to the sport, the UFC can only hope that things go smoother this time.
We’ll find out soon enough. Promotion for the event starts on Thursday, with a press conference taking place live from Las Vegas. In addition to Jones vs. Smith, the card’s co-main event fighters will also be on hand. Those would be welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, and top contender Kamaru Usman. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ made some waves when he leapfrogged over Colby Covington for the next title shot at 170lbs.
It’s Jones and Smith, however, that fans will be most interested in seeing. Jones’ NSAC license is a conditional, one-fight license requiring him to undergo additional drug testing, at his own expense. That comes as a result of multiple drug test failures under USADA, as trace amounts of a long term metabolite of turinabol remain in his system following an initial failed test in 2017.
The UFC 235 press conference live stream can be viewed above. The presser kicks off at 8PM EST from the David Copperfiled Theater at the MGM Grand.
