Curtis Blaydes and Maycee Barber are among the names that will be in action when the UFC returns to Nashville in March.
UFC Nashville is set to take place on March 23 and will be headlined Stephen Thompson set to welcome Anthony Pettis to the welterweight division. During last night’s event on ESPN, several more bouts were announced to round out the action from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
Most notably, top heavyweight contender Curtis Blaydes (10-2) will be facing Justin Willis (8-1) in a key bout in the heavyweight division. Blaydes is fighting for the first time since losing to Francis Ngannou back in November in a bout that many felt could set him up for a shot at the heavyweight title. Willis is on a four fight win-streak and most recently took a decision over Mark Hunt in Australia in December.
Fans of “The Future” will not have to wait much longer as young prospect Maycee Barber will be making her second Octagon appearance when she faces JJ Aldrich at UFC Nashville. The 20 year old Barber made waves when she won a UFC contract at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series and followed it up with an impressive promotional debut against Hannah Cifers at the UFC’s 25th anniversary show. Aldrich is riding a three fight win-streak with victories over Danielle Taylor and Polyana Viana.
Other bouts announced include a flyweight bout between former title challenger Alexis Davis taking on former Invicta flyweight champion Jennifer Maia. Notably, there is another flyweight bout booked as Jussier Formiga will be fighting Deiveson Figuerido. The bouts join the previously announced strawweight fight between Randa Markos and Angela Hill.
