A Muay Thai title fight tops the ONE: Call to Greatness card, while Ev Ting, Amir Khan, and Ariel Sexton are among the fighters who will take part in the lightweight grand prix in Singapore.
Asia’s ONE Championship continues to unveil its schedule for the start of 2019. On Wednesday, the promotion announced the main event for the upcoming ONE Championship: Call to Greatness card in Singapore. That event, the promotion’s first trip of the year to the nation, will be topped by Muay Thai action. In a main event title fight, Stamp Fairtex will defend her atomweight title against Janet Todd.
Fairtex won gold last time out against Kai Ting Chuang at Kingdom of Heroes. Now, she’ll look to defend it for the first time. The action doesn’t stop there, however. A pair of match-ups in the Lightweight World Grand Prix will no doubt have Eddie Alvarez interested. In the first, Singapore’s own Amir Khan will face Ariel Sexton. Khan (11-4) has spent nearly his entire pro career with ONE, and will enter the night coming off a loss to Eduard Folayang in November.
Sexton (12-4-1), after missing all of 2017, went 1-1 last year, and is coming off a win over Kota Shimoishi. That came back at July’s Pursuit of Power.
The second grand prix bout announced Wednesday features former title challenger Ev Ting (16-5) against Guseyn Arslanaliev (6-1).
ONE Championship: Call to Greatness takes place February 22 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. More bouts are expected to be added to the card in the coming weeks.
