The UFC Prague main event is set, with Thiago Santos facing off against Jan Blachowicz in a key fight for the 205lb division.
Thiago Santos will look to build on his impressive introduction to the UFC’s light heavyweight division when he gets back in the cage in Prague. On Friday, UFC officials announced the UFC Prague main event and it features Santos taking on Poland’s Jan Blachowicz. The promising 205lb showdown will be Santos’ third straight contest in the weight class, and could position him as a real contender in the division. Of course, Blachowicz will no doubt have something to say about that.

Santos (20-6) is 7-1 in his last eight fights dating back to February 2017. His lone loss came in a middleweight contest at UFC Atlantic City this past April against David Branch. Aside from that, Santos has been perfect of late, and won his light heavyweight debut in September against Eryk Anders. Of course, Anders took the fight on six days notice. But Santos looked impressive again at UFC 231, knocking out Jimi Manuwa. That’s earned him a crack at Blachowicz, ranked 4th at light heavyweight. Santos himself is 7th.
‘Marreta’ also holds a key win over current light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith, when the two competed at 185lbs.
For Jan Blachowicz (23-7), the fight is a chance to extend his current win streak to five. The former KSW champion has picked up wins over Manuwa and Nikita Krylov among others during that stretch. He’s 6-4 in the UFC overall.
UFC Prague (UFC Fight Night 145) takes place February 23, 2019 at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic.
