An exclusive European fight series launched by Bellator MMA will kick off with Bellator: Newcastle in February.
Bellator MMA is launching an exclusive fight series in the U.K., Ireland, and Western Europe — and on Friday, they revealed details on the first stop in the series. Bellator: Newcastle will take place February 9, 2019 and feature Patricky Pitbull vs. Ryan Scope in the main event. In addition, recent signee and reality TV star Aaron Chalmers will compete in the co-main event.
A member of the Bellator roster since 2011, Pitbull (20-8) is currently on a four fight win streak, with victories over Josh Thompson, Benson Henderson, Derek Campos, and Roger Huerta. The elder Pitbull brother, properly Patricky Freire, made his debut way back at Bellator 36, and has fought the best of the best in the organization, including Eddie Alvarez, Michael Chandler, and David Rickels.
Overall, Pitbull is 13-7 in the Bellator MMA cage.
Ryan Scope (11-1) will be making his debut with the promotion at Bellator: Newcastle. He boasts eight stoppages among his eleven wins, and is a former BAMMA champion.
Chalmers, who will feature in the lightweight co-main event, is 4-0 as a pro. Known for his stint on U.K. reality show Geordie Shore, he’s made the switch to MMA, and has finished all four of his fights to date. He made his Bellator debut by submitting Ash Girffiths at Bellator 200 back in May. Chalmers is a native of Newcastle, and will no doubt have his tome town crowd behind him.
No opponent has been announced for Chalmers as of yet. The event takes place at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England on Saturday, February 9.
