Matt Mitrone vs. Sergei Kharitonov will top the first of back-to-back Bellator shows at Uncasville, CT’s Mohegan Sun Arena in February.
Bellator MMA is going all-out in a pair of back-to-back shows at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. After previously announcing that the long-awaited showdown between Paul Daley and MVP (Michael ‘Venom’ Page) would take place at the venue on February 16, word now comes that one day earlier, Matt Mitrione vs. Sergei Kharitonov will headline a card at the very same venue.
The back-to-back shows mirror Bellator’s upcoming two-night stint in Hawaii, though the logistics of getting to that locale made the booking less surprising. The Connecticut-based Mohegan Sun, however, has been a frequent and popular stop for Bellator over the years.
As for the headliner on the Friday show, Matt Mitrione (13-6) defeated Roy Nelson in the opening round of the Bellator World Heavyweight Grand Prix at the very same venue in February 2018. However, he was eliminated from the tournament by Ryan Bader at Bellator 207. The unanimous decision loss marked his first defeat under the Bellator banner.
Sergei Kharitonov (28-6, 1NC), meanwhile, shocked many when he knocked out ‘Big Country’ on the very same card in Bellator 207’s co-main event. Kharitonov has not lost in his past six trips to the cage, with only a No Contest due to an eye poke against Anton Vyazigin in May breaking up his win streak.
No other fights have been added to Bellator’s February 15 card as of yet.
