The TUF 28 Finale is a go, including the main event between Rafael dos Anjos and Kamaru Usman — but two undercard fighters came in heavy.
The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale goes down Friday live from Las Vegas, which made Thursday weigh-in day for what could be the final installment of the show. While the long-running reality series’ future is up in the air, the short-term fortunes of a couple of fighters are about the change. Both men’s heavyweight and women’s featherweight fighters featured on the show. Friday night with the conclusion of TUF 28, two will earn UFC contracts.
Unlike seasons past, the TUF 28 Finale is light on fighters who appeared on the show. Outside Juan Espino vs. Justin Frazier at heavyweight and Macy Ciasson vs. Pannie Kianzad at featherweight (the finals), only the 145lb scrap between Leah Letson and Juliha Stoliarenko, plus Maurice Green vs. Michel Batista were included.
Two fighters missed weight Friday — Rick Glenn, just a hair over the featherweight limit, and Ji Yeon Kim, well over the flyweight limit for her fight with Antonina Shevchenko.
