The UFC’s current light heavyweight and heavyweight double champ chimed in on the outcome of Fedor Emelianenko vs. Chael Sonnen at Bellator 208, and gave his pick on who will win the heavyweight grand prix.

Chael Sonnen had more than he could handle in Fedor Emelianenko on Saturday night at Bellator 208. Though more than willing to get in there with the heavyweight great, Sonnen was floored almost instantly in the pair’s main event, heavyweight grand prix semi-final fight. From there, Sonnen’s night went from bad to worse.

Fedor’s sambo skills shone through. Sonnen struggled looking for takedowns, often shooting wildly, clutching for a single leg out of desperation. Ultimately, he wound up covering up on the ground as Emelianenko battered him with a barrage of punches.

A game showing from Sonnen, who has never been one to turn down a fight. A shot at one last title for Fedor, who will move on to face Ryan Bader.

Among many interested observers of Sonnen vs. Fedor at Bellator 208 on Saturday were two standouts: former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, and current UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

Bisping, who lost to Sonnen back when both were part of the UFC’s middleweight division, proclaimed that his former foe had shown “balls and class” in the cage against the heavyweight legend.

Daniel Cormier, meanwhile, gave his pick for who will go on to win the Bellator World Heavyweight Grand Prix. Not surprisingly, he picked fellow wrestler Ryan Bader. Curiously enough, Bader was on the cusp of a title shot against Cormier when he left the UFC, after the promotion opted to keep him away from the belt.

Cormier also referred to Fedor as “reckless” at Bellator 208. See his comments and others below!
