Take a look at the highlights from the PFL 9 open workouts, held Thursday in Long Beach, California.
Long Beach, CA — The Professional Fighters League was in Long Beach, California this week preparing for PFL 9, which goes down Saturday at the Long Beach Arena. That night, the promotion’s lightweights and light heavyweights will be tasked with fighting twice in one night as they battle their way to the million dollar finals on New Year’s Eve in New York City.
With a million dollar purse for each winner at the end of the season, fighters were all in. On Thursday, the promotion held its open workouts, with lightweights Chris Wade and Will Brooks taking part. Catch the highlights of their action below. Wade came into the tournament off a highlight reel win over Yuki Kawana, and was seeded fourth at 155lbs, while Brooks, who won both of his regular season fights, was seeded second.
At light heavyweight, Sean O’Connell and Vinny Magalhaes showed off their moves. Magalhaes, a dangerous jiu-jitsu expert, was the top seed at light heavyweight. O’Connell, meanwhile, who also serves as an analyst for the Professional Fighters League, was seeded sixth.
PFL 9 takes place Saturday, October 13, airing live on NBC SN following the preliminary card on Facebook Watch. Outside the U.S., the full event can be streamed live on Facebook.
