Kumite 1 League held its inaugural event on Saturday, with a former TUF Finalist, a nation vs. nation format, and Mike Tyson looking onward.
India’s Kumite 1 League launched it’s inaugural show on Saturday in Mumbai, India. Cageside Press’ own Paarth Pande was on hand to take in the event, which featured twelve fights including a double main event that consisted of a featherweight scrap between Mohd. Farhad vs. Abdel Malek, and a women’s strawweight contest featuring Priyanka Jeet Toshi against Fatemeh Moslemi.
Keen-eyed UFC fans might recognize a couple of names on the card. Leandro Silva, a.k.a. ‘Buscape’ was set to take on fellow Brazilian Paulo Silva. And Hayder Hassan, who fought Kamaru Usman in the finale of The Ultimate Fighter 21, was facing Haitham El-Sayed.
The league was building its brand through the involvement of boxing champion Mike Tyson — but how would the fights play out?
