The main event of Darrion Caldwell vs. Noad Lahat is set for Bellator 204, but a couple of fighters had weight struggles, one astronomically so.
The Bellator 204 weigh-ins took place earlier today, with Cageside Press on the scene. Both main event fighters hit the scales without issue, as both Darrion Caldwell and Noad Lahat hit the featherweight limit. It’s an experimental trip north for Caldwell, who is currently Bellator MMA’s bantamweight champion.
While the headliners had no issue, a couple of fighters did, including a bizarrely disappointing miss for Willie Whitehead, who was nearly fifteen pounds over for his middleweight bout against Romero Cotton. Incredibly, the fight is still on. Cris Lencioni, meanwhile, was just under three pounds over the non-title fight featherweight limit for his bout against Tywan Claxton.
Bellator 204 takes place Friday, August 17 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
