No one, not even Niko Price himself, would have guessed how he scored the finish over Randy Brown at UFC Boise on Saturday.
Randy Brown and Niko Price represented young fighters, just mid-20s, looking to make an impact in the UFC welterweight division. At UFC Boise, a statement win could help their cause. Randy Brown had gone 4-2 in the UFC and was coming off a big win over young star Mickey Gall at UFC 217. Niko Price on the other hand was 3-1-1 and had notable wins over Brandon Thatch and Alan Jouban.
Yet no one saw the finish coming, likely not even Price himself. Really, how often is someone finished by strikes from the bottom?
Round one featured a number of grappling exchanges between the long and lanky welterweights. Price took Brown down and landed some ground and pound. Brown hopped on Price’s back before being flipped, followed by Price escaping the position. The first round came to a close as Price was clipped with a big knee by Brown; though rocked, he made it to round two.
On the ground in round two, the pair scrambled, and it seemed like Randy Brown might actually have the advantage. That is until Price started landing hammerfists from his back that knocked out Randy Brown. Wow. Price’s foot was wedged just behind Brown’s head, holding it in place and making him vulnerable to blows from below. By the third or fourth, it was all over.

By far one of the strangest, but more impressive finishes you’ll ever see in the UFC.
