Check out the early results from UFC Singapore (UFC Fight Night 132) in Singapore on Saturday!
The UFC returned to action with a rare early card, and rare UFC Fight Pass card on Saturday morning. With UFC Singapore, a four fight main card featured up-and-comer Leon Edwards taking on the grizzled war horse that was Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. In co-main event action, meanwhile, Ovince St. Preux would mark a big test against Tyson Pedro.
The bulk of the card, however, went down bright and early on UFC Fight Pass. Among those going to war: Japan’s ‘bad boy’ Teruto Ishihara, who was set to take on Russian Petr Yan, and Australian Ultimate Fighter veteran Jake Matthews.
On the women’s side, the main card boasted a battle of Jessicas, as ‘Jessy-Jess’ (Jessica-Rose Clark) took on Jessica Eye at flyweight. Earlier on, meanwhile, China’s Yan Xiaonan faced Brazilian Viviane Pereira, while South Korean Ji Yeon Kim opened the card against TUF veteran Melinda Fabian.
Both the South Korean and Chinese fighters picked up decision victories Saturday morning — though a bit of confusion by the ref led to VIviane Pereira briefly celebrating a win.

Just one fight later, Australian Jake Matthews went to work, scoring with knees, dirty boxing, and finally took opponent Shinsho Anzai down. Taking the back, the rear-naked choke was inescapable, and Anzai went out rather than tapping, giving Matthews another welterweight win, his third straight.

After 3 of four fights went the distance early, second round finishes became all the rage. Three straight finishes in the second frame saw Song Kenan, Shane Young, and Song Yadong all have their hand raised in Singapore. In the featured preliminary fight, meanwhile, Petr Yan took less than a round to finish off Japan’s Ishihara, who was under fire right up to the finish.
