Andrei Arlovski will look to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Tai Tuivasa when he faces Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC Moscow.
One of the UFC’s most legendary heavyweights, former champion Andrei Arlovski, has been added to the upcoming UFC Moscow card. Arlovski himself announced the news on social media, posting notice of the fight to his Instagram followers. Having just fought (and lost a close decision) at UFC 225 in Chicago, it appears Arlovski has no plans of slowing down. Opposite Arlovski in the octagon in Moscow will be Shamil Abdurakhimov.
Arlovski (27–16 (1)) had been on a two-fight winning streak prior to the UFC 225 bout against Tai Tuivasa. Those wins came against Junior Albini and Stefan Struve. At age 39, Arlovksi has proven he can still go with the best of them, recreating his game and becoming much more of a well-rounded fighter.
In Shamil Abdurakhimov (18-4) he’ll face a heavyweight who has struggled with steps up in competition thus far in his UFC tenure. At 3-2 in the promotion, Abdurakhimov has lost to Tim Johnson (now with Bellator MMA) and Derrick Lewis. Still, the Russian native will be on home turf at UFC Fight Night 136 in Moscow (Arlovski, from Belarus, resides in Chicago), and finished Chase Sherman in his last outing.
UFC Moscow takes place September 15 at the Olimpiyskiy Arena in Moscow, Russia.
