In light heavyweight action at UFC Chile, Jared Cannonier and Dominick Reyes met on the main card. In the end, it didn’t last long.
In a match-up of prospects in the UFC light-heavyweight division, fans got to see the heavy handed Alaskan fighter Jared Cannonier taking on the undefeated Dominick Reyes. Reyes had won his first two fights in the octagon, but was facing his first real step up against a ranked opponent, as Cannonier had stepped into the top 15 several times before. Would he pass the test at UFC Chile?
Round one started out with both fighters throwing heavy leather. The size difference between Cannonier (who previously fought at heavyweight) and Reyes was extremely clear. Reyes looked for a couple of kicks, and Cannonier sought to find a home for his right straight hand. Cannonier kept looking to get in close, but suddenly, Reyes had Cannonier hurt! Reyes was soon swarming his opponent, and an uppercut dropped Cannonier! With that, it was all over!

Make no mistake, it really was a devastating uppercut. It was another quick finish for UFC Chile. The win also establishes Dominick Reyes as a real threat at 205lbs. It should also necessitate another step up in competition his next time out.
