Vincente Luque got the better of TUF Nations winner Chad Laprise at UFC Chile on Saturday night.
UFC Fight Night Chile went down in Santiago, Chile, on Saturday, with a card headlined by welterweight contenders Demian Maia and Kamaru Usman. Opening card the main card were another pair of welterweights, Vicente Luque and Chad Laprise.
It was an interesting fight in the welterweight division, as the young Luque looked for another big win. Laprise was a veteran of the 170lb class, and was looking for his 6th win in the UFC.
Round one began with the two feeling each other out. The pair were throwing numerous leg kicks. They clinched as Laprise looked for a takedown but couldn’t land it; they then got off the cage as Luque upped the pressure and looked to land some lefts. Laprise landed some nice punches as Luque tried to come in. Laprise then moved in, and Luque landed a giant punch! Luque followed up with some ground and pound and it was all over!
The end result was a giant win for a really good prospect in the welterweight division. In the meantime, it’s back to the drawing board for Canadian Laprise, who had his three-fight winning streak snapped.
