Take a look back at the best of the action from Friday’s action packed ONE Championship: Unstoppable Dreams.
Arguably the biggest ONE Championship event to date, Unstoppable Dreams went down Friday, with a trio of title fights atop the card. Promotional darling Angela Lee was the belle of the ball, retaining her women’s atomweight championship in a hard-fought decision against Mei Yamaguchi, a rematch from two years prior.
Earlier in the evening, younger brother Christian Lee tried to being a second title to the family, only to fall short against two-division king Martin Nguyen. The featherweight championship fight drew the ire of fans (and the ref) for its apparent lack of action, with both fighters being issued a yellow card for lack of activity. Following his split decision win, champ Nguyen apologized for the effort, promising a finish next time out.
ONE also crowed a Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion, as Sam-A Gaiyanghadao defeated Sergio Wielzen in a thrilling affair that ended in a second round knockout.
It was Lee vs. Yamaguchi who stole the show, however. In a tightly contested scrap that saw the Japanese challenger put champ Lee in danger several times, the young sensation proved that she had plenty of heart, and fight smarts. That Lee was returning to action after a serious car crash made the victory all the more impressive. If you missed it, you can catch a full recap of the action here.
