‘Nobita’ won his title back, while a new challenger emerged at middleweight at ONE Championship: Grit and Glory over the weekend.
One of a host of MMA cards over the weekend (with Bellator MMA, the UFC, ROAD FC, and others all in action), ONE Championship: Grit and Glory brought the action on Saturday. And, in the process, crowned a new strawweight champion on the men’s side. That saw ‘Nobita,’ a.k.a. Yoshitaka Naito, reclaim the crown he lost to Alex Silva earlier this year in an instant rematch.
It was no easy feat. Naito and Silva went the full five rounds, with ‘Nobita’ taking the split decision in the end to become strawweight king once again.
Further down the card, meanwhile, former middleweight champion Vitaly Bigdash took on Leandro Ataides in a title eliminator. With Aung La N Sang waiting in the wings, Bigdash was looking to bounce back from losing his title, the first loss of his career. Yet it wasn’t to be. Instead, it was Ataides earning the third round TKO. Which now gives him the opportunity to meet ‘The Burmese Python’ with gold on the line.
