Brazil’s Glover Teixeira will be looking for revenge, of a sort, when he takes on Ilir Latifi, teammate of the last man to beat the Brazilian, Alexander Gustafsson.
UFC Hamburg, set to go down this July, has a pair of bruising light heavyweights set to clash. In a bout first reported by Kimura.se, Brazil’s Glover Teixeira will face Sweden’s Ilir Latifi, in a fight highly unlikely to go the distance. The event will be headlined by another light heavyweight scrap, as Shogun Rua is expected to meet Volkan Oezdemir on the card.
Teixeira (27–6), a former 205lb title challenger against Jon Jones, last saw action at UFC on FOX 26 in December, where he finished off Canadian Misha Cirkunov. The 38-year old Brazilian fought Jones for the title in 2014, and has gone 5-3 since. Prior to the win over Cirkunov, Teixeira was finished by Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Stockholm last may.
Latifi (14-5 (1)), a training partner and teammate of Gustafsson, is on a two fight win streak. He most recently got the better of Ovince St. Preux, submitting OSP via guillotine at UFC on FOX 28. Prior to that, he scored a unanimous decision win over Tyson Pedro at UFC 215.
Numerically UFC Fight Night 134, UFC Hamburg goes down at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany on July 22.
