Bellator MMA returns to action on Friday, with Bellator 197: Chandler vs. Girtz! Catch the weigh-ins here on Cageside Press!
Bellator 197 takes place Friday at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO. Originally headlined by a lightweight title fight rematch between Michael Chandler and Brent Primus, the card was thrown into disarray briefly when Primus pulled out due to injury. With the title fight nixed, Brandon Girtz stepped up to face Chandler in what promises to be a violent, blood-soaked affair.
Also on the card, undefeated Team Bodyshop standout A.J. McKee (10-0) is back in action. Anchoring the co-main event in St. Charles, he’ll be taking on Justin Lawrence (11–4). The twenty-seven year old Lawrence is looking to play spoiler, and become the first man to defeat McKee in a fight that is frankly intriguing for the featherweight division.
In other action, Baby Slice (Kevin Ferguson Jr.), son of the late Kimbo Slice, will look to make it three in a row when he takes on Devon Brock. Brock is no stranger to besting legendary offspring — he get the better of Khonry Gracie back at Bellator 192 in January.
