Adam Borics thrilled his native Hungarian crowd at Bellator 196, airing Friday on Paramount Network — and capped off his performance with a flying knee finish.
Previously a part of Bellator 196’s main event, Adam Borics had to settle for facing little known Teodor Nikolov at the event in Hungary. That was due to an injury to James Gallagher, yet another setback to the SBG Ireland star. Borics vs. Nikolov served as Bellator 196’s co-main event, with Borics the clear favorite.
The featherweight scrap got underway with Borics holding the center of the cage early. Nikolov tried for a sloppy takedown attempt, and took himself well out of position. Hungary’s Borics had the crowd behind him, and he continued to force Nikolov on the outside. Borics landed a leg kick, then shrugged off a takedown attempt, followed by another. On Nikolov’s next charge in, he ate an uppercut. The Hungarian fighter was clearly finding his rhythm. A flying knee attempt fanned for Borics, but you could feel electricity in the air. Shortly after, Borics connected with a standing knee to the head of his opponent; Nikolov was dropped, but stayed in it. Borics, meanwhile, followed him down and looked to land additional strikes.
Nikolov survived the round, however, but was in danger almost immediately in the second, with Borics pressing the action. He feigned another flying knee, then caught Nikolov with a leg kick that tripped him up. The earlier knee attempt, however, seemed to foreshadow the eventual finish. Borics launched himself into another flying knee attempt, while Nikolov was looking to change levels. Nikolov was floored, and that was all she wrote!
Ádám Borics absolutely outclassed Teodor Nikolov on the feet, capping off his performance with this spectacular flying knee. I would love to see him and Gallagher get rebooked. #Bellator196 pic.twitter.com/7qATsdoTDc
