ONE Championship crowned its second dual-weight class champion Friday at ONE: Quest for Gold!
ONE Championship: Quest for Gold went down Friday at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar. The main event ended in the coronation of ONE’s second dual-weight champion, as Myanmar’s own Aung La N Sang claimed the promotion’s vacant light heavyweight championship. The end came early, with the middleweight champion launching a head kick that felled Alexandre Machado. The finish came at just under the one minute mark. Just like that, Aung La N Sang joined Martin Nguyen, who holds the promotion’s lightweight and featherweight titles atop the mountain.
In other Quest for Gold action, the co-main event witnessed the continued resurgence of New Zeland’s Ev Ting. Ting captured a split decision win over opponent Ariel Sexton; that made it two wins in a row since a title challenge loss to Eduard Folayang last year. Earlier in the night, meanwhile, Amir Khan saw his six fight win streak snapped when promotional newcomer Timofei Nastyukhin battled to a unanimous decision win over the streaking lightweight.
Opening up the card, the ‘Chinese Bad Boy’ Li Kai Wen came storming out of the gate. He chased down opponent Roel Rosauro, blitzing him before finishing Rosauro via guillotine.
