Roy Nelson and Matt Mitrione are ready to throw hands in the Bellator World Heavyweight Grand Prix on Friday at Bellator 194 — but first, catch more of the behind-the-scenes action!
Bellator 194 goes down Friday at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The card is topped by the next bout in Bellator’s World Heavyweight Grand Prix, featuring Roy Nelson taking on Matt Mitrione. It’s a rematch of their meeting back in the UFC, where Nelson dished up the first knockout loss of Mitrione’s career.
This time out, however, Mitrione is the favorite. It’s something ‘Big Country’ doesn’t actually agree with. Why? “Because I’m Roy Neslon.” Still, there’s no bad blood between the fighters, who remain cordial throughout. It’s simply a matter of may the best man win. Mitrione, meanwhile, talks about having something tangible to present to his children in the episode, referring to the heavyweight title. It’s something he sees as a reward for his sacrifices, and theirs.
The winner of this fight will almost certainly remain the favorite to win the title at the end of the heavyweight grand prix. Which means a win here is crucial for both men. With Mitrione at age 39 and Nelson aged 41, it could be the last chance for both to capture gold in a major organization.
