Tim Boetsch squares off with Antonio Carlos Junior at the UFC on FOX 29 card in Arizona later this year.
On Monday, following an early report by Brazil’s Combate, the UFC confirmed the addition of two fights to the UFC Glendale (UFC on FOX 29) card this April. First up, in a middeweight battle, veteran Tim Boetsch will take on Brazilian Antonio Carlos Junior. Additionally, strawweights Shana Dobson and Lauren Mueller will battle it out at the event, which takes place April 14.
Dobson (3-1) was a contestant on season twenty-six of The Ultimate Fighter, the reality show’s most recent installment. While she was eliminated early on, Dobson won her UFC debut at the TUF 26 Finale in December. There, she picked up a second-round TKO finish of Ariel Beck, her TUF 26 castmate.
Lauren Mueller (4-0), meanwhile, picked up a victory at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series 8 to win her way into the UFC. She’ll be making her debut on the big stage against Shana Dobson.
Tim Boetsch, of course, is no stranger to UFC fans. ‘The Barbarian’ has been with the company since 2008, first appearing at UFC 81. 21-11 as a pro, Boetsch is 3-1 in his last four. He’s coming off a win over Johny Hendricks, and also picked up victories over Rafael Natal and the late Josh Samman in that span. His only loss in his past four fights was to Jacare Souza.
Antonio Carlos Junior (10-2, 1NC), meanwhile, has won four straight in the UFC. Most recently, he bested Jack Marshman at UFC Sao Paulo. Though now fighting at middleweight, the Brazilian won The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 heavyweight tournament in 2014.
UFC on FOX 29 takes place April 14 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, AZ. In the main event, lightweights Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier are expected to throw down in a fight that promises to create fireworks.
