Humberto Bandenay won’t be fighting at UFC Austin after all — but Brandon Davis has stepped up to take his place.
VISA issues have thwarted Humberto Bandenay’s sophomore UFC fight, at least for now. As a result, he’s off of UFC Austin, where he had been expected to face promotional newcomer Steven Peterson at featherweight. In his place steps Brandon Davis, who will look to put a loss in his own debut behind him. Davis confirmed an earlier report by MMA-Today on Friday.
Peterson (16-6) will be making his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 126, as UFC Austin is officially known. He enters the night off a win over Dustin Winter at LFA 28 in December. Prior to that, ‘Ocho’ had appeared on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, losing a split decision to Benito Lopez. Overall, Peterson is 8-2 in his last ten fights.
Brandon Davis made his promotional debut earlier this year at UFC 220, where he lost a unanimous decision to Kyle Bochniak. A fellow DWTNCS veteran, Davis (8-3) had a seven fight win streak snapped with the loss.
UFC Fight Night 126 takes place February 18 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX. Peterson vs. Davis will serve as the UFC Fight Pass featured prelim.
