ONE Championship just got a whole lot easier to watch!
ONE Championship had an excellent 2017, beating the UFC to China, and putting on some major cards in South East Asia. To start 2018, it’s looking to continue that trend. On Thursday, the MMA promotion announced that it would begin streaming select fights live and free on Twitter. The streams will begin with this weekend’s Kings of Courage card in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Per Wednesday’s press release, Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, stated: “I am thrilled to announce ONE Championship’s partnership with social media platform, Twitter. This will allow us to further showcase the beauty of martial arts to a global audience. This partnership signifies the two companies’ commitment to developing martial arts in Asia and extend the reach of our exciting live and digital content. Martial arts fans, particularly those on the Twitter platform, will be able to enjoy free ONE Championship bouts while engaging in real-time conversation.”
Twitter has long been a hotbed for MMA fans, so the move makes a lot of sense. Prior to the launch of UFC Fight Pass, the Ultimate Fighting Championship streamed its preliminary cards via Facebook.
The bouts included in the initial stream this Saturday at ONE Championship: Kings of Courage will include all three preliminary fights, plus two select bouts from the show’s main card. Those will be Victorio Senduk vs Yohan Mulia Legowo, and Yusup Saadulaev vs Masakazu Imanari.
Both logged-in and logged-out fight fans on Twitter and on connected devices globally can access the fights through @ONEChampionship.
ONE Championship: Kings of Courage goes down Saturday, January 20 at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. The main event features Singapore’s Tiffany ‘No Chill’ Teo and China’s ‘The Panda’ Xiong Jing Nan fighting for the promotion’s inaugural strawweight title.
