UFC Belem continues to fill out, with a pair of fights being added to finish out the week.
‘The Dirty Bird’ will do business down in Brazil when the UFC heads to Belem in February for UFC Fight Night 125. Following an earlier report by MMA Today’s Nolan King, the UFC has unveiled that Tim Means will head to Brazil to face Sergio Moraes in a highly anticipated welterweight battle. Moraes was originally scheduled to face Abubakar Nurmagomedov, cousin of UFC lightweight contender Khabib.
In addition to the Means vs. Moraes fight, the promotion has also booked bantamweights Marlon Vera and Douglas de Andrade for the event. News of the bouts was confirmed by MMA Junkie.
For Means (27–9–1 (1)), the trip to Belem will mark his third fight in Brazil, where he has gone 1-1 to date. He’s entering the fight off a loss to Belal Muhammad at UFC Sydney; Moraes (12–3–1) is also coming off a loss, to Kamaru Usman in September.
After running up a three fight win streak, Ecuadore’s Marlon Vera (10–4–1) came up short in Sao Paulo in September against John Lineker. He’ll look to get things back on track against Douglas de Andrade (24–2 (1)), who most recently lost to Rob Font at UFC 213. Over all, de Andrade has gone 2-2 in the UFC.
UFC Belem (UFC Fight Night 125) takes place February 3 at the Arena Guilherme Paraense in Belem, Brazil. Eryk Anders meets Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida in the main event.
