Another promising women’s flyweight scrap has been added to next month’s UFC Charlotte card.
UFC on FOX 27 has picked up a women’s flyweight bout. Added to the official fight card for the event, taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina, is Katlyn Chookagian against Mara Romero Borella. The bout joins two other announced women’s scraps on the night, Randa Markos vs. Julianna Lima, and Justine Kish vs. Ji Yeon Kim. Both of those fights will be contested at strawweight.
Italy’s Romero Borella (12-4) made her UFC debut in October, picking up a win at UFC 216. A pro since 2014, she finished fellow newcomer Kalindra Faria by rear-naked choke within a round. Prior to that, she’d defeated Milana Dudieva at Invicta FC 24. That fight served as the evening’s main event.
Chookagian (9-1), meanwhile, has gone 2-1 in her UFC career to date. She’ll enter the bout against Mara Romero Borella coming off a win against Irene Aldana at UFC 210. The only loss of her pro career to date came to Liz Carmouche at last year’s UFC 205.
UFC on FOX 27 takes place January 27 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The main event features middleweights Derek Brunson and Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza meeting for the second time.
