The Professional Fighters League has lined up some notable names for its July event in Everett, WA. Former World Series of Fighting featherweight champion Andre Harrison will headline the July 29 card, when he goes up against Steven Rodriguez. The promotion will go head-to-head with the UFC, which hosts UFC 214 on that same date in Anaheim, CA.
Harrison (16-0) has been perfect thus far in his career, with notable wins over Lance Palmer, Steven Siler, and current UFC fighter Des Green. In Steven Rodriguez (10-2) he faces a twenty-five year old surging prospect who hasn’t suffered a loss since 2010. The top divisional seed for the inaugural Professional Fighters League season will be on the line in the bout.
Also on the card, former MMA title challengers Jake Shields and Yushin Okami will both be in welterweight action. Okami (33–10) is set to meet Andre Lobato in the co-main event. The Japanese fighter, who once faced Anderson Silva for the UFC middleweight championship, is 3-0 since losing back-to-back fights to David Branch and Jon Fitch in 2014-2015. Most recently, he earned a split decision win over Paul Bradley at WSOF 34.
Brazil’s Lobato (24-6) enters the bout coming off a nine fight win streak. He’ll be making his promotional debut in the fight.
Former UFC and WSOF welterweight title challenger, and Strikeforce champ Jake Shields, meanwhile, is set to face Danny Davis Jr. (13-11). Davis was 3-3 in the WSOF, but has won his last two fights outside the promotion.
Shields (31–9–1 (1)), of course, lost back-to-back WSOF title shots against Rousimar Phalares and Jon Fitch. Overall, he went 2-2 in the promotion, which he joined after his release from the UFC following a loss to Hector Lombard at UFC 171.
Rounding out the four fight main card, former UFC heavyweight Jared Rosholt (14-4) takes on Nick Rossborough (26-19-1).
PFL: Everett takes place July 29 at the XFINITY Arena in Everett, WA.
