ONE Championship announced today that it will hold its inaugural event in Surabaya, Indonesia at the GOR Kertajaya Arena on July 29. ONE Championship: Conquest of Kings will feature a flyweight title unification bout between Kairat Akhmetov and Adriano Moraes that will answer who the undisputed champion really is.
Kazakhsta’s Akhmetov (23-0) has been absolutely perfect over his six years as a pro. Last time out, he defeated then-champ Adriano Moraes to capture ONE’s flyweight gold. Their rematch promises to be a thrilling affair. The original bout ended in a close split decision for Akhmetov. The fight in Indonesia, however, will mark Akhmetov’s first fight since 2015, and he may be facing some ring rust upon his return.
Moraes (15-2), meanwhile, captured interim gold in Akhmetov’s absence. He will enter the affair on a two fight win streak, with back-to-back submissions of Eugene Toquero and Tilek Batyrov under the ONE banner.
Also at Conquest of Kings, for the first time in promotion history, a traditional Silat bout will be held. The ancient Indonesian combat discipline will be on display when Silat practitioners Khamid Wichaksana and Muchamad Fauzi meet.
Elsewhere on the card, Finland’s Toni “Dynamite” Tauru (11-5) meets Brazilian Leandro “Brodinho” Issa (13-6) in a key bantamweight bout, while Marcin Prachnio (12-2) of Poland squares off against Gilberto “Giba” Galvão (29-5). The Brazilian Giba made his promotional debut against Japan’s Tatsuya Mizuno last time out, and picked up a decision win.
“The Terminator” Sunoto Peringkat (6-3) meets Rocky Batolbatol (5-3) in another bantamweight fight announced for the card. Rounding out the bouts announced for the July event, Jerome S. Paye (2-3) of Indonesia takes on Thailand’s Yodsanan “Little Tyson” Sityodtong (3-1).
ONE Championship: Conquest of Kings takes place July 29 in Surabaya, Indonesia at the GOR Kertajaya Arena. The televised portion of the card will air on The Fight Network.
