Oktagon MMA made its debut in Poland on Saturday with Oktagon 86 taking place in Szczecin.
The main event saw a “stand and bang” (read: no grappling) rules fight between Polish star Michal Materla and Germany’s Christian Jungwirth. Also in action, former KSW champ Tomasz Narkun (taking on veteran Alexander Poppeck in the co-main event), and ex-Oktagon welterweight champion Ion Surdu.
After losing his title at the scale last fall, Surdu was looking to work his way back to another championship opportunity against Amiran Gogoladze, a fight that had been in the works several times before.
